What Constitutes A High-Quality Life
In short, there’s no one size fit when it comes to living a quality life.
Why is this?
Well, as unique individuals we have our own desires and sparks in life. What sets my heart and soul on fire may not be the same for you. Similarly, success means something different to each one of us. However, there are some things we can all commonly do to improve the quality of our lives.
I have compiled the following list of things you can do now to improve the quality of your life. These small tweaks can massively improve the quality of your life. From your physical and mental well-being to your personal life.
Here are 10 simple things you can do now to improve the quality of your life.
10 Simple Things To Improve The Quality of Your Life
Expressing gratification
It’s quite easy to be ungrateful these days. Let’s admit it!
It’s super easy to want the things we don’t have or want what others have. We spend a lot of time focusing on what we don’t have. Instead of expressing gratification for what we do have.
Expressing gratification for where you are right now in your life is one of the easiest yet rewarding things you can do now to improve the quality of your life. Wondering why it’s so important to have gratitude in your life?
Well, the more we appreciate the things we already have (as little as it may seem) it will expand.
From the moment you begin being more appreciative for little things in life. Like being able to breathe. Thankful that your son or daughter made their beds, helped with cleaning the house. The stranger, who smiled at you when you were having a crappy moment. The cashier was kind to you. You will begin to see your life transform.
This simple act of gratitude can improve the quality of your life because:
- it helps you to appreciate what you have. Instead of you focusing on what you do not have.
- Being grateful allows you to feel happier in life.
- Improves the quality of your sleep.
- Improves your mental health and wellness by reducing stress and depression.
- Can help you to see the world through a different lens. Allowing you to be more compassionate and understanding.
- Reduces your fears and anxiety.
- Encourages you to pursue your goals.
- Enhances your faith and spirituality.
To begin your gratitude practice, I recommend taking a journal, and every morning as you wake, write five things you are grateful for. The goal here is to be as specific as you can – as to why you are grateful. Preferably choose something that happened to you within the last 24 hours.
For example:
I’m grateful for the phone call I received from my best friend because I really needed someone to talk to. Talking to her helped me gain some clarity and feel better.
Being mindful can improve the quality of your life
“The way to do is to be.” – Lao Tzu
Mindfulness has really changed my life.
It has helped me to transition from someone who once got upset easily to someone calmer. Mindfulness has helped me to paused and think before responding to situations. Saving me from reacting in ways I would later regret.
Being mindful doesn’t mean you have to run off to some mountain top or sit in meditation all day. Meditation is a practice of tuning into your inner self.
Why and how is mediation one of those things, you can do now to improve the quality of your life?
Unfortunately, the 21 century is glorified by the hustle and bustle lifestyle. We are faced with relationship issues, monetary problems, workloads, what society thinks of us – among many other things. Which leads us to feel stress. Prolong stress may cause insomnia, high blood pressure, fatigue, anxieties, and heart attacks.
Meditation is a powerful tool for stress. It allows us to rest our minds and attain a state of bliss.
Many of the stress and anxiety we face are created by our minds. Which results from the way we perceive ourselves or what others may have said to us. Meditation strengthens our minds to manage problems relating to our thought. It helps us to be more present with ourselves and our family.
Being present helps us feel good. And when we feel good, we can function better. We can improve our relationships. As well as better meet our needs and wants. When we are more present with ourselves and our families, we can appreciate the little things in life. Becoming happier with ourselves.
If you are new to meditation – I recommend taking five minutes daily for yourself. Sit in a quiet space. Releasing all your thoughts practice breathing in through your nose for a count of four, hold to the top for a count of four, then release for a count of four. Do this for five minutes and gradually increase the length of time as you feel more comfortable.

Improve the quality of your life by being honest
Living a quality life is about being honest with yourself. I know this seems quite simple. But there are so many of us, living life the way others want or expect us to. Instead of being true to ourselves.
Stop living life the way others want you to. Or the way you think you should and start living life the way you truly want to.
Among the many things you can do now to improve the quality of your life is by living your truth.
What is your truth?
Are you living your truth?
Do you even know what your truth is?
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- What are your values? What do you stand for?
- How can you turn your life around?
- What brings you joy?
- What are you passionate about?
- Do you have a dream that you would like to fulfill?
- If you had only one week to live. What would you do, and how would you live it?
I recommend spending 15 minutes journaling on one of these questions daily. Remember asking why at the end of your answers will take you to the root level.
Stop making excuses
Stop making excuses and witness the quality of your life improve with ease.
Did you know, many times when we say we can’t, it’s mostly because we don’t want to?
Improving the quality of your life – starts by ditching excuses. You know, those little lies we tell ourselves:
- I can’t do this exercise routine.
- Waking up early is out of my league.
- I can’t start a home-based business. It takes too much work!
- I just can’t…….
If you are truly ready to take action and start improving the quality of your life. You need to uplevel your game. Get out of your way and stop making excuses. Start taking control of your life. There’s always a way to get what you truly want in life. Right now – you are seeking to improve the quality of your life. You can do so – by saying no to excuses.
Saying no can improve the quality of your life
“Very successful people say no to almost everything.” – Warren Buffet
We have grown to say yes to everything and everyone. Saying yes when we really and truly don’t want to can harm us more than we think.
Many of us struggle to say no because we fear being rejected or creating conflicts. Not being liked or just the uncertainty of not knowing what the other person may think of us. As a result, what do we do? That’s right! We say yes to everything.
When we do this, we are spreading ourselves too thin. Chances are, we are putting someone’s else needs in front of our own. Which can delay us from getting our own work done. Lead us to feel stress and unproductive. We may even begin comparing ourselves to others. Wondering how they can get so much done, but we can’t.
Being able to say no when you need to can be so powerful. Say no gracefully to something you do not want to do without guilt.
It’s your life. Take control of it by saying yes to what you want and no to the things that do not serve you or do not have the extra time for.
Ask for what you want
I’m still learning this. What I can say is – the more I ask for what I want, the more liberating it feels.
Asking for what you want doesn’t mean you are a greedy person or you are weak. It simply means – you know what you want and is aware that sometimes you have to let others know what you want.
Say for instance:
You are running your own online business and require reviews to attract new customers, You have tons of loyal customers who love what you do but just haven’t left a review. There’s no shame in asking your customers to leave you an honest review. You will be amazed at how happy they are to leave you a review. But if you didn’t ask, they will not know what your needs are.
Ask for what you want in life. You don’t get what you don’t ask for.
Eliminate distractions
How many times were you unable to get a task or project completed because of your phone? I know I have been distracted many times because of my phone. So, what have I done to improve this? I have started leaving my phone in airplane mode while I’m working on important tasks. This has really helped me to remain productive and stay focus on my current task.
Identify what you are easily distracted with and begin managing it.
Are you spending too much time on social media? If you are, try setting a timer when you go onto your social media platforms. Once that timer beeps, put your phone on airplane mode or close all social media tabs on your computer or tablet.
Create a habit of spending only an hour or less on social media. Dedicate certain times in the day when you check social media.
Whatever your go-to distraction is. Admit it and create a habit that allows you to manage your distraction. So you can become and stay productive. Getting more done.

Don’t take things personally
I used to be that person who took everything personally. Until I realized how drained and consumed I became with what others had to say. That wasn’t even true, to begin with. I was allowing other people’s opinions to ruin my life.
Once I learned – how to not take things personally. I realize how much happier and less stressed I felt. I learned to let go of other people’s opinions, mostly because it didn’t matter.
Start living your best life by not allowing people to tell you who you are. When someone makes a comment or gives advice that you really do not need, just take it with a grain of salt. Do not let others tear you down or make you feel inferior. You are worthy and deserving of being YOU. So step out there and be the best version of yourself.
Surround yourself with the right people
If you find yourself around negative and narcissistic people, guess what? You will become just like them.
Choose your friends and the people you spend time with wisely.
We all have friends and families who are always dealing with some sort of drama in their lives. You know, the ones who just can’t seem to get their lives in order. After they have had many chances it’s probably fair to say they simply are not willing to turn their lives around. Mostly because they do not want to.
Now, may just be the time where you have to say goodbye to all the “negative nellies”.
Spend time with people who are winners. Those who will inspire and empower you on things you can do now to improve the quality of your life. Friends who are willing to turn their lives around and share their wins and positive stories with you.
Getting enough sleep
Most adults need 7-8 hours of quality sleep a night. Do you get that? Admittedly I don’t. However, it’s something I’m currently working on improving – taking care of myself as a mom.
Having a good night’s sleep boosts our immune system, helps us to stay more productive, and helps us feel good as well.
When we wake up from a good night’s sleep, we are less grumpy. We are kinder to those around us, and when we give that kindness vibes out we attract that same kindness. Like, a kindness chain reaction. And we can all do with a little kindness today. So get those extra snores in. Sleep is critical when it comes to improving the quality of your life.
